EXTRACURRICULAR CENTERS
Our extracurricular centers consists of students from approximately 18 junior high schools for each center, located in 3 municipalities of the state of Nuevo León: Monterrey, San Nicolas and Escobedo.
Provider junior high schools are selected based on a 3 criteria:
- Geographical location close to each of the centers.
- Low-income families.
- Schools that have obtained optimal results in the official ENLACE test.
Admission to centers:
Admission to extracurricular centers is carried out in two phases. In the first phase, our Foundation applies to all 1st. degree students who belongs to the junior high schools selected from a population of approximately 2,500 alumni, an intelligence test and the 20% with the highest results are selected.
These students go on to a second phase in which another abstract intelligence test is applied, and those who have achieved a "superior" or a "very superior" intelligence range are selected, who are invited to form part of the extracurricular centers, representing approximately 5% of the alumni of the initial population.
The extracurricular centers aim to create favorable academic conditions for students to develop motivation, interest, responsibility and high-level results.
Each group is made up of approximately 25 students and has a tutor who provides students with ongoing support and accompaniment in their academic performance.
ALFA FOUNDATION'S HIGH SCHOOL
Alfa Fundacion's high school is a private, non-profit institution and is validated by the Ministry of Education to issue official degrees. It consist of students exclusively from extracurricular centers that have exceeded the quality standards established by the Foundation.
Selection to our high school is made through a rigorous process where students have demonstrated above average academic results, commitment to task, motivation, and creativity. This process is carried out with an evaluation committee that analyzes the evidence of student performance as they pass through extracurricular centers.
Alfa Fundacion's High School is full-time and offers an enriched and expanded curriculum preparing students for success in college and in life.
Our curriculum is aligned to the program of the Ministry of Education and is enriched in depth and extension using high-level international academic standards as references. For high achieving students, honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered in math, physics, chemistry, and literature.
It has a staff of teachers who are experts in their field of study and trained to apply appropriate pedagogical strategies for talented children.
Students have a specialized tutor who guides them to reflect and make decisions to improve their academic performance, personal life and prepares them for choosing a career according to their profile.
Our range of extracurricular activities allows students to possess valuable opportunities to grow and develop their individual potential and extend classroom learning in various fields in participation in international competitions related to the development of skills and competitions in science, mathematics, literature, computers and creativity, community service projects, sports activities and entertainment clubs.
The high school is characterized by a rigorous curriculum, a supportive and mentoring environment, and dedicated staff that enable our students to reach their full potential.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
During their time in high school, students have vocational support to choose a career and apply for scholarships at prestigious universities according to their profile and results.
During this university stage, the Foundation, in collaboration with the universities that accept our students, creates an economic support plan so that the students can successfully complete their studies.
COMPREHENSIVE WELLNESS AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Beign aware that the emotional health of students plays an important role in their development, the educational project has decided to offer a comprehensive care program to all its students. The program consists of psychological, medical and food care.
In the area of Psychology, accompaniment and support is provided for emotional problems presented by students during their time at the Foundation; In the event that the emotional problem requires highly specialized care, it is channeled to the UANL Hospital with which we have a collaboration agreement.
In addition, students are offered lectures given by specialists aimed at generating healthy habits for comprehensive well-being.
We have a medical area that treats and provides first aid to all students in the event of an accident, illness or physical discomfort.
In addition, the medical area carries out different health brigades, including vaccination campaigns, timely detection of visual problems, and others.
In this area there are strategic alliances with various institutions such as Tec Salud, Santos de la Garza Evia Foundation, CLISA Foundation, among others.
In order to guarantee that our students have access to a healthy meal, Alfa Fundacion has a dining room service that offers a nutritious and balanced meal daily and free of charge. We also offer snacks in class exchanges donated by the Sigma company.
In order to fulfill the mission of this educational project, valuable learning environments have been created such as science laboratories, library and technological resources, integrated with a specialized pedagogical strategy, where the student assumes an active role with their learning, participate in projects and are offered personalized opportunities to develop their full potential.
The classrooms have large spaces that allow the mobility of the teacher and students to carry out various types of activities; individual, team and plenary sessions. They are equipped with digital screens and each student has an individual computer that allows them to investigate, investigate and acquire current knowledge; all of them essential technological resources today to carry out a high-level teaching and learning process.
The extracurricular centers and the high school have science laboratories where students carry out the application of the knowledge acquired in the classroom through experiments.
Students have at their disposal a library that has a wide collection of books on various topics, which serve as support and consultation material on academic and recreational topics, while promoting the habit of reading.
The library is made up of 5,640 physical books and access to a collection of digital books. Additionally, it offers study areas and loan of computational resources such as iPads, laptops, scientific calculators, graphing calculators, among others.
